Wind and Raven and Recovery Café

We believe alcohol and other drug treatment should be tailored to the needs of the individual and guided by an individualized treatment plan containing a few core ingredients developed in consultation with you. At Recovery Café, the plan we create will be the result of a candid conversation about what is influencing your life that is not helping and, what is helpful.

If you are intimately connected to a group of people that are supportive of positively directed change, we want to have their help as well. For this reason, we do not offer a “one size fits all” treatment approach.

We accept the notion that individuals that seek counseling for alcohol and other drug misuse and, possibly dependence, need to work at their own pace as they develop knowledge of and skill in applying new behaviors.

Our goal at Recovery Cafe is to provide a safe, supportive and encouraging environment where this can be accomplished.

We utilize a client-centered and harm reduction approach, coupled with innovative and evidence/research-based counseling and treatment practices such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

We believe that by meeting you where you are and working to reduce the discomfort and risk you are experiencing, we are granted an opportunity and privilege. We accept our role as expert witnesses to the decisions you make about your life. We give feedback, counseling and coaching as permitted and appropriate with the shared goal of your desired change.

What menu alternatives are available?

You create your menu based on what you believe will help you succeed.  Your choices will contain  one or more of the following choices, some of which may be recommended by us in the course of our conversation:

  • Individual counseling
  • Peer Recovery Support
  • Group Counseling
  • Family or Concerned Significant Other Counseling
  • Urine screens for accountability to self and others
  • Outside Peer Support meetings such as SMART Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous, Celebrate Recovery, and Refuge Recovery.
  • Alternative interventions such as Fitness Training, Nutrition Consultations, Dietary consultations, Yoga, Acupuncture, Tai Chi, and Lifestyle Coaching, including recreation and leisure time assessment. Have another alternative approach in mind? Let’s talk about it!

How do you determine what to recommend?

There is no such thing as “one size fits all” treatment, which is why we believe the treatment recommendations need to be made with you and not just for you.  But at the end of the day, it is your choice to change that makes the difference.

The counselor’s recommendations are based on what will help you meet your goals and on how the intensity and duration of your relationship with alcohol and/or other drugs has/is influencing your life.  Many times there are other factors involved that warrant attention that is resolved along the way as well.

We will recommend what we believe is not only behaviorally and medically necessary, but also what is physically and financially possible based on the results of the consultation conversation.

Do you offer all ASAM Levels of Care at Recovery Café’?

Recovery Cafe is an outpatient, remote, and private practice and therefore does not offer all ASAM Levels of care.  When your menu indicates a higher level of care is appropriate, we consult with you about your preferences and help you select the most appropriate choice that meets your needs.  We have a long history with outside referrals that we know as reliable and accountable providers.

Assessments and Consultations at Recovery Café

We want to help you make the most effective choices toward resolution, regardless of whether you are experiencing personal distress or have experienced an unintended outcome related to your alcohol or drug use.  While your situation is similar to others in some ways, it is also unique to your circumstances. It is a good idea to start with a Consultation, also known as an Alcohol & Drug Assessment or Clinical Evaluation, to determine what would help you and develop your options for help.

Recovery Café Consultations are conducted by one of our Directors or Senior Staff members one-on-one. The use of assessment instruments may also be considered if, together, we believe they are helpful. It generally takes an hour and a half to two hours to complete. Also, an alcohol and drug test may be administered if we agree that it would be helpful or if a third party agrees that it would be useful. We begin here by determining the main menu for your work, including methods, intensity, frequency, and types of services that will help you achieve your goals.

Wind and Raven is diverse

There are a lot of approaches one can take in solving big problems, and it is up to having an open mind to allow in new ways of seeing the world-a one in which your problem does not exist. While the approaches at Wind and Raven a many, it is generally divided into either clinically certified or alternative forms of medicine in which various paths are considered. Briefly, here are the approaches to addiction and recovery.

The first, as mentioned before, is a modern therapeutic path in conjunction with Recovery Café. Regardless of how we talk about it, “it” remains what holds you back. Visit Recovery Café.com if interested in an ASAM Level 1 or Recovery Coaching package. I am highly flexible in all my addiction and recovery work. All illnesses are spiritual illnesses, in my opinion. We examine your life more profoundly than is typical in clinical psychotherapy. A spiritual approach to illness involves connecting with the world around you, defining your purpose, setting an intentional life path, and more.

The treatment recommendations should be made with you, not just for you, since there is no “one size fits all” treatment.  But ultimately, it is your choice to change that makes a difference.

Recommendations are based on your goals and how alcohol and/or drugs have/are affecting your life.  Other factors that require attention and are resolved along the way can also be involved.

Based on the results of the consultation conversation, we will recommend what we believe is behaviorally and medically necessary and what is physically and financially feasible.
